I’ve had a very interesting time the past few days. I interviewed three members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans to get background for my latest novel. Saturday morning I spoke at a SCV Camp Meeting. And most interesting of all I was able to buy or trade eight books that will help me in telling the story of “What Happened At Morningstar Pass.”
With all the information I’ve picked up I’ve decided to move the story from Southwestern Colorado to a town northeast of Sacramento. I haven’t decided if I’m going to create my own town, or if I’m going to use one of the towns near Placerville, CA.
I’ll probably wait until after I visit Placerville on a research trip sometime next Spring.
I’ve got a busy week coming up. On Monday and Tuesday I’ll be at the Travis AFB Exchange for a book signing, on Saturday I’ll be at the SCV Ball in Vancouver, WA. Be sure to check jameselstad.com for details.
