It’s been a good trip so far. Today was

It’s been a good trip so far. Today was the first day of the SCV Reunion. This year is different. I asked a fellow vendor why there are half as many attendees and vendors. It seems they hold elections in even-numbered years. They schedule the Reunions in smaller cities in the odd-numbered years. As a result, sales are really bad.

So, you may ask, how can I say that it’s been a good trip? Contacts and networking is the key to building a following. Turns out that contacts I made last year are paying off this year. Several times a year, SCV puts out a magazine. Last year I spoke to the editor and gave him a copy of CSR to review. Since I never heard from him, I assumed they didn’t like it. Today, the editor told me that CSR is rising to the top of his in basket. Later a woman came to my table and informed me that she’s been assigned to review my work. We discussed how I came to write CSR. She didn’t know when she’ll get to it. I’ll keep you posted as to what she says.

As you might guess, an event of southerners attracts companies that reach out to my target audience. On such company is a traditional publisher. Can’t guarantee that they’ll take my work or that I’ll agree to the terms they come up with. But it’s exciting to consider the possibilities.

The last outstanding thing is a vendor who sells all types of nick-knacks, books, and etc. She took five copies of CSR to resell at other venues. In the future she’ll order directly from her distributor.

Since the turn out and sales have been much less than I expected, I’ll be leaving Vicksburg around noon tomorrow and head for the research portion of this trip.

I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for your interest,

Jim
