Wow! It’s been a hectic couple of weeks. I’m now in Tucumcari, NM. I’m enroute to Vicksburg, MS for the Sons of Confederate Veterans Reunion on 18-20 July. I’m looking forward to seeing some of the people I met last year.
The trip so far is going well. It’s taking longer to drive than I thought. But, I’m learning that on a long trip, I need to factor in rest and meal stops. It’s a little different when I’m driving several days in a row.
Tonight I started on Whiskey. I’m hoping to have the entire CTR manuscript ready for my editor by the beginning of September. Next week I’m spending at least two full days driving around Kansas. I really think the battle for the Union Pacific Rail yards will surprise a lot of people. Think of yourself as a clerk in a convenience store. What would you do if an Abrams tank pulled up and filled up with fuel? Would you ask how the driver wanted to pay for it? Or would you let it ride?
One exciting part of next week is I get to visit a former commander I haven’t seen in almost 12 or more years. He’s really sharp. I plan on picking his brain.
Thanks for your support.
Jim
